EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT

This is a great starting point to give you an overall picture of how your manuscript is shaping up. It focuses on the following: highlighting any consistent issues with grammar, usage and punctuation. Drawing attention to any major plot holes, inconsistencies, incorrect use of tenses etc. Giving advice on author voice, plot, characterisation, structure and marketability.

This will be provided in the form of a short summary in Word detailing any suggested changes/re-working as well as brief comments on your manuscript to give specific examples.

DEVELOPMENTAL EDIT

The Developmental Edit is an in-depth edit that has a focus on: checking correct tenses, clarifying meaning, eliminating jargon, polishing language, assessing sentence structure, checking timeline consistency, looking for repetition, showing vs telling, clichés, whilst giving advice on structure, characterization etc. and minor fact checking.

These edits are provided directly onto your manuscript using Word’s commenting and tracking features for line-by-line editing to ensure smoothness and clarity while maintaining your voice and style.

COPY EDIT

Designed to follow on from a Developmental Edit, the Copy Edit will get closer into the nitty gritty detail of your manuscript. The main focus of this edit will be on: grammar, usage, spelling, punctuation, checking correct tenses, repetition and assessing sentence structure.

These edits are provided directly onto your manuscript using Word’s commenting and tracking features for line-by-line editing.
